It's a new season full of new projects and new adventure! We'll kick off our projects with a planning meeting on Sunday April 12 from 5:00-6:30PM so bring your ideas and your notebooks and let's do this thing!

Double-Feature Comedy Night JUNE 7-15

The Blackbox Teens will present two comedies by Jonathan Rand: How to Succeed in High School Without Really Trying and Check, Please. “How to Succeed in High School” is about a group of student agents who infiltrate a school assembly to demonstrate their secret tips and tricks for (hilariously) surviving high school. “Check, Please” follows a series of blind dates that can’t get any worse… until they do! And if two outrageous comedies isn’t enough, the Blackbox teens will provide an original, student-designed musical intermission between the shows for your enjoyment. Tickets are just $10 for this double-feature. Show times are Friday and Saturday June 7 and 8 at 7:00PM, Sunday June 9 at 2:00PM, and Friday and Saturday June 14 and 15 at 7:00PM.

Auditions

Auditions are this Saturday, April 6, at 12:00 in the Blackbox theater (at the top of the stairs). We'll have pizza, do some icebreakers, cold-read from three scripts, then cast the show by private vote. We plan to be wrapped up by 2:00. See you there!

It's ALIVE!

No, really, it's just been freshened up a bit, but it'll be ALIVE soon enough once we get all of you piled in!

Whaaaaa....?

The SAC Board of Directors is letting YOU make yourselves at home in a box. the Blackbox, that is. Watch your email for important info about upcoming shows performed for teens by teens in the Blackbox theater.

So this coming week it'll get a makeover (fresh paint on the stage and a nifty SOLID BLACK FLOOR) and then you'll need to get in here and audition because THE SCHOOLHOUSE TEENS ARE IN THE HOUSE! Oh, yeah.

Soooo... here's a thought for all of the Shakespeare-crazed teens at SAC.... my twisted co-hort and I have stumbled upon a gold mine of one-act comedy Shakespeare spinoffs and spoofs. Like "The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet" and "The Hamlet Thrill-ma-geddon"  and "Miss Polly's Institute for Criminally Damaged Young Ladies Puts on a Show" (they do Hamlet), "Romeo, You Idiot,"  "Miss Beth" and "Canned Hamlet" and of course the wildly chaotic and deliciously inappropriate "The Complete Works of Shakespeare - Abridged." It's a Shakespeare motherlode!

So we're thinking... what if the Schoolhouse teens took over the Blackbox and ran crazy Shakespeare shows to an audience who's gorging themselves on popcorn and gummy worms (because food is a-okay in the Blackbox) and did these shenanigans, like, every couple of months or so?
